Epson's £399.99 A3+ Stylus Photo R1900 is the first product to feature the company's UltraChrome Hi-Gloss 2 inks. The technology uses five colour inks, a photo and matt black and a gloss optimiser.
Epson has also changed from blue ink (in the previous Hi-Gloss) to orange, which is claimed to deliver even better skin tones than previous models. The magenta and cyan inks have been reformulated as a result to deliver accurate blues and greens, and prints have been tested to be lightfast for 80 years on Epson Premium Glossy Photo Paper.
The printer is said to be capable of delivering a 1440x720dpi print on A3+ in just 103 seconds and can now be used with glossy, matt and fine art papers in both cut sheet and roll formats.
Epson's new Stylus Photo R1900 will be on sale from November 2007.
