Casio Exilim Pro EX-F1

Casio Exilim Pro EX-F1

Last year, Casio announced that the next generation of bridge cameras would not only bridge the gap between pro and amateur photographer, but between the photography and video. The Exilim Pro EX-F1 is that bridge. Shown today at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, the $1,000 EX-F1 is a prosumer-shaped camera with a 12x optical zoom that is claimed to shoot up to 60 six megapixel images per second.

Unlike a camcorder, however, this is a burst rate - the EX-F1 can sustain its 60 frames per second for a single second, or support a five frame per second rate for 12 seconds. You can also record at a whopping 300, 600 or 1,200 frames per second, but only at reduced resolution.

The camera even supplies two kinds of flash, depending on frame rate - a conventional flash is supplied for regular photography (up to 20 shots at seven frames per second) and a high-speed LED flash (akin to those on camera phones) can be used for burst shots between 10 and 60 fps.
